The original member of Top Dog Football, the Morgandog Mavericks enjoyed unparalleled success in the league’s opening seasons, making the play-offs with a winning record and getting to back-to-back Dog Bowls, winning at the second attempt in season three, beating Whitchurch Ward Wanderers. After falling short in year four, the team merged with double champion Promunique Dragons in the 2012-13 league reshuffle, adopting the latter’s title-winning roster as it attempted to post a fifth consecutive winning season. Although the goal was achieved, the new-look Mavs lost in the wild card game. That early exit might have been a portent of things to come, as the loss of its two starting RBs helped hand the Mavericks a first losing record in season six, finishing bottom of the Payton-Dorsett division for good measure.
